Upstart Big Ideas Awards 2017

Wednesday, July 05, 2017
The Gordon Gallery was buzzing with anticipation on June 21, as over 110 students, parents, businesses & educators gathered at Upstart's Big Ideas Awards. The top 12 ideas submitted, as judged by our expert panel were announced. This year's Big Ideas ranged from social to commercial with a focus on waste reduction and recycling.

Upstart sponsors took the opportunity to meet our next generation of global entrepreneurs, presenting the top 12 teams prizes for their ideas including cash, tech & mentoring. A 3D printer was awarded to the school with the most entries. Guests had the chance to vote for their favourite idea from the top 40 entries in the People's Choice Award.

Finals Six Teams to be Announced Next Week

A final six teams from the 12 Big Ideas winners will be given the opportunity to progress into the next stage of the Upstart Challenge, culminating in the Pitching Showdown on August 28.

Congratulations to all the entrants of this year's Upstart Big Ideas Award. We hope you continue to work on and develop your ideas. Don't forget we have events throughout the year to help you in your entrepreneurial journey!
