Meet the 2017 Upstart Challenge Young Entrepreneurs of the Year
Last Monday we welcomed 230 leaders from business, education and community to an inspiring evening of amazing entrepreneurialism at our Building an Entrepreneurial Community featuring the 2017 Upstart Pitching Showdown.
Six teams of finalists too to the stage to pitch their business ideas to a panel of entrepreneurs and angel investors - Georgia Beattie, Startup Victoria, Maurice Grasso, Melbourne Angels and serial entrepreneur, Nick Stanley, Runway Geelong.
Once again, the judging panel and audience were blown away by the quality of the pitches presented by these teens, with Maurice Grasso commenting, Some of those presentations were better than some I and Melbourne Angels see from Founders pitching for serious money."
Young Entrepreneurs of the Year
Scarlett Moroney and Ella Johns, Year 7 & 8 students at Sacred Heart College, took out the 2017 Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Award with their pitch for Flo - a positive mind-set and mental health app that they are planning to roll out to schools.
Josh Walker and Josh Lepore, Year 12 students at Covenant College, were Runners Up for Vintage Apparel, a shopping platform that connects sellers and buyers of vintage clothing.
The People's Choice award went to Yasmin Tigani and Phoebe Campbell for Pockets on the Move, a storage solution for wheelchair users.
Congratulations to all teams on their hard work, persistence and resilience throughout the entire Upstart Challenge!
